Confey GAA Golf Society was founded in 1998 and its first outing was to Kilkea Castle, County Kildare in May. In fact the very first outing was supposed to take place in March at neighbouring Westmanstown but following two days of torrential rain the outing was cancelled and so Kilkea became our first venue where a total of 21 members played.
Ironically, thereafter, the society enjoyed the very best of weather for most of its outings over subsequent years. So, the Gods were indeed good to the society after a wet and shaky start. The formation of the society was the brainchild of club members Dermot Walsh and Pat Gleeson following a conversation between the two at Westmanstown Golf Club at the end of 1997.
Today, The Society has monthly outings and some unique competitions such as members singles matchplay and shield competitions, a fourball better ball competition, and a GAA Counties team competition.
